Birthday Celebrations

Finally...here are some pictures from Jack's birthday fun. Jack played in the Dino Towne and loved it, and then we had ice cream before we took a ride on the carousel. Some friends from the ward joined us there and I think all the kids had a great time. It was really nice.

I thought he did really well for his first time on a carousel. He didn't cry or try to get down, but he did sqeeze that poll so tight that the tips of his little fingers were white! So brave :)

Later that night we celebrated Jack's birthday with his favorite meal, spaghetti (hence the orange cheek stains before the cake is even cut.) Before we could even eat, though, Jack was being a real grumpy butt and we felt bad that he didn't want anything to do with the phone when his grandparents and aunt/uncles called to wish him "Happy Birthday!" I asked Britton to take his shirt off before we fed him and discovered then that he had a big mess in his drawers! Poor kid...no wonder he was grouchy! He had two baths that night. One before dinner, and one after. Good thing he loves the tub!
I picked up a red velvet cake at the store, but for his party I made a chocolate cake. I don't think he has a preference, though...just as long as there is sugar in it, he's happy!

On Saturday, we had a birthday party for Jack at our Clubhouse. The only problem is that the thermostat wasn't working, and we were all freezing!

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for the airplane...he LOVES it!

Also, Nana and Sir Grandpa the Great's gift was a hit too!

I think this is my favorite of all the pictures we took that day. I thought he didn't want cake and that he was just freezing because it was so cold in there. But then Aunt Wendy took pity on him, poor thing, and he ate all the ice cream and cupcake she would feed him. I was running around everywhere trying to get everything set up and flowing right, Jack's aunts, uncles, and cousins had to make sure he had food to eat, presents to open and plenty of attention at HIS own birthday party (while his crazy parents ran around like chickens)! So, THANK YOU to everyone for helping so much!

Being Tagged = Blog Fun

I've had a lot of tags lately, so I'm sure you know too much about me already. The nice thing about blogs, though, is that you don't have to read it if you don't want to! :) So thank you, Becky (my sister) for the tag!

1. What are you most afraid of? Bad things happening to the people I love, but a close runner up is being in the middle of the ocean on a tiny boat (or less) and something going wrong (picture in your head the boat scene from Jaws).

2. What is the most recent movie that you have *seen in a Theater*? 'I am Legend'

3. Place of birth? North Carolina

4. Favorite food? When I was young my favorite food was macaroni and cheese. I think the word favorite throws me off because I hate picking just one thing. I really enjoy all kinds of foods (broccoli, brussel sprouts, green beans, steak, all kinds of pasta, pulled pork barbeque with with a North Carolina vinegar-based sauce, black-eyed peas, mashed potatoes, sweet and sour meatballs (family recipe), coleslaw, Puerto Rican beans and rice, cheeseburgers...I'll stop there)

5. What's your natural hair color? Dirty dishwater brown, BLEH!

6. Ever been to Alaska? No, but I'm excited to go one day

7. Ever been toilet papering? I can't remember going more than once

8. Love someone so much it made you cry? Gratefully, yes

9. Been in a car accident? 3: (Again with the reminder that you don't have to read about them if you don't want to :P)
#1 - Age 14? The first one, I was in the backseat on the way to a church dance with my sister and her boyfriend (driver) - we rearended a car waiting to make a left turn and I freaked out and put my seatbelt on as fast as I could after it happened...what is horrible is that after the shock wore off 2 seconds later, I was more sad that I was delayed even further in arriving at the dance.
#2 - Age 17. The second one happened the school year after I graduated (should have been my senior year). Orchestra was first period and I thought I would go participate for the heck of it, so I drove a friend of mine over with me from early morning seminary. Her older sister was driving behind us and didn't see us slowing down for a red light...she hit us pretty hard and I barely bumped the car in front of me. My friend and I started crying because we "knew my mom was going to KILL me." Yeah, when she and my papa arrived, she fed me to the wolves...practically begging the officer to give me a ticket to teach me a lesson about following too closely. To this day, I still find myself stopping a little too far behind the car in front of me. (Oh, and I didn't get a ticket :D)
#3 - Age 20. The third one was as I was about to make a left handed turn and the light changed from red to yellow - my brakes were so cold I ended up stopping in the middle of the intersection, so I backed up into someone's car (I swear I didn't see anyone when I looked behind me).

10. Croutons or bacon bits? both

11. Favorite day of the week? Again with the favorites :( ... everyday?!?

12. Favorite restaurant? I would take a meal out at any restaurant at this point :)

13. Favorite Flower? I think Columbines, Roses, and Gerber Daisies are beautiful

14. Favorite sport to watch? If I have to choose one, I say Golf

15. Favorite drink? I really like water, but Britton got me addicted to Coke (Oh, and I remember loving Sasparilla when I was a kid, but I can't find it anywhere nowadays)

16. Favorite ice cream? (Oh, I actually have a favorite one of these, yay!) DQ softserve vanilla

17. Disney or Warner Brothers? Disney, but I like some Warner Bros movies too

18. Ever been on a ship? 2: Toured the USS North Carolina Battleship, and a cruise ship

19. What color is your bedroom carpet? Light tan with speckles

20. How many times did you fail your driver's test? I think I failed it once...and then I had to take it in my dad's truck (that I had never driven!)...talk about completely frazzled during the 3 point turn!!

21. What do you do when you are bored? Blog, Read, Flip through tv channels

22. Bedtime? about 10:30-11pm

23. Favorite TV shows? House, Lost

24. Last person you went to dinner with? (I assume you mean out to a restaurant) Britton, his parents, all his siblings and their spouses

25. What happened at 30? CAN wait to find out :P

26. What are your favorite colors? Blue (How come they couldn't have asked what my favorite food"s" were?)

27. How many tattoos do you have? zip

28. How many pets do you have? zilch

29. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I recently realized the answer to this question that I thought was a stumper (and Becky hit it right on the head - but I felt smart because I thought of it a couple weeks before I saw her answer)...If you are a religious person, you will remember that in Genesis the creation of the world is described... "[1:25] And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good." - - - - - So that means, the CHICKEN came first :D

30. What do you want to do before you die? There are so many things...I think I will dedicate an entire post to this question sometime down the road.

31. Have you ever been to Hawaii? Not YET!

32. Have you been to countries outside U.S.A.? (I just found out that Hispaniola is the name of the island that is shared by 2 countries; Domincan Republic and Haiti) I've been to the Dominican Republic.

33. People you tag? Beth, Janae, Jenny, Julyn, Kim, Leslie, Lisa, and Mindi W. (Too many, I know! :)

A Fun Valentine's Dramitization...

First ,we'll start off with breakfast (I'm really starting to get into chocolate. I never used to eat candy...I always prefered a meal to sweets, but things are changing)

Imaginary Valentine's aren't nearly as fun without roses :)

He would buy me a fun flirty dress for the evening out

And of course, jewelry to go with it (with matching necklace of course - not pictured here)

Dinner would be set up something like this...

Gotta start with these

But don't worry, this is what I would put in them :)

Probably some fried mushrooms, onion rings, or mozzarella sticks for an appetizer and then a salad before the main course - I would love a great steak.

Dessert would have to look something like this

Dessert would be followed by an impromptu dance or two (I won't make poor Britton dance all night since he detests it.)

To top the evening off, we would go home and get into our jammies and curl up on the couch to watch some fun (for me) chick flick, followed by.... ;)

Britton, I love you so much! You are my best friend and I am so grateful every day that you found me and asked me to marry you...I definitely got the better end of the deal. I wouldn't change anything about our lives (even being categorized as poor college student - yeah that is singluar because I'm technically not a student). I know that what I described above would be more for me than you, but it (and I for that matter) would not be complete without you. Happy Valentine's Day!
Britton, WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE?
