Wedding Tag

Sorry it took me so long to get to, but thanks for the tag Esther! I got so mad at the cd that had my pictures on it, so I had to pull out my album and scan in most of these pictures. Don't worry...I didn't hit the computer this time :P

1. What date is your anniversary?
June of 2004

2.Where did you get married?
We were sealed in the Jordan River Temple

3. Who proposed and how?
Britton proposed to me. We had plans to go out for dinner, but then Britton's brother asked us to babysit for them afterwards. We went to their house and found a note on the door that said that they had to run an errand and would be back soon, but to just wait for them inside. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but I did notice a beautiful boquet of roses on the counter. I even mentioned how thoughtful Britton's brother had been for getting them for his wife (for no apparent reason). I also saw her cd player out along with her cds, so I said we should play some music. I put something fun on and Britton asked for me to teach him some dance moves. [As a side note: I was really big into dancing, but Britton is completely the opposite. Once when we were dating, I put on a "romantic" song and pulled Britton off the couch to dance with me. Britton is not a dancer and is very uncomfortable doing so, so he started laughing. I was immediately embarrased to the point of anger because he was laughing (at me it felt like), so I stormed over to the cd player and turned off the music. I learned never to do that again.] So when he asked me to teach him some dance moves, you can imagine I put up some resistance. I could see that he was contrite and sincere, so I gave in. Once the song ended, he said he knew what to play next. He had hidden a cd in the case and played that "romantic" song I had played that day I got mad at him. I thought it was sweet and we started dancing. I could feel Britton shaking, and I asked what was wrong. He said it was because he was so uncomfortable dancing. Once the song was over, he took me over to the table that had the roses on it, and said they were for me. He then opened a drawer and pulled something out at the same time he dropped to one knee. It happened so fast I almost started laughing, but I could see he was so nervous. I guess I didn't even give him an answer, instead I pulled him off his knees to hug him while he was still freaking out because I hadn't said "yes" yet. It's a fun story :)

4. How long were you engaged?
Five days shy of 3 months.

5. What was the favorite part of your wedding day? (besides who you were marrying, hopefully)
EVERYTHING!! It was probably the best day of my whole life...just feeling with 100% clarity that you are at the right place at the right time doing the right thing with the right person - it's complete euphoria.

6. What would you change if you could?
Coulda, shoulda, woulda...My wedding experience was perfect. But there are some things that I learned I won't budge on when it comes to my kids' weddings :)

7.Wedding colors?
I never nailed them down to exact colors...well I did in the beginning, it was supposed to be periwinkle, pink, and white. I don't remember why, but I changed them to a blue color (periwinkle), lavender, and white.

8.Do you remember anything special from your ceremony? Any good advice? A comical moment?
A. Special ceremony) It was very special that my father-in-law sealed us. That will be a wonderful memory to share with our kids/grandkids.
B. Good advice) What I love about the whole thing was that it was all so wonderful. Looking back I realize that there were probably so many things that I could have been bent out of shape about, but I didn't and now I only have wonderful memories. I mean, do you really want to look back and chide yourself because the only memory you have of your wedding day is that you threw a fit because things didn't go exactly as planned? I'm glad I made that decision internally before the big day.
C. Comical moments) 1. Britton actually stepped on my dress as we were walking out the temple doors, breaking my bustle before I even had a chance to use it. 2. On our way to the airport (leaving Utah for the North Carolina reception while still technically on our honeymoon), we stopped off at Church Headquarters so I could attend a job interview.

9.Were you clean or messy when you cut your wedding cake?
We had two receptions. Here in Utah, I think we were pretty nice...

In North Carolina, we may have been a tad naughty - this is a picture of Britton wiping cake off my dress.

10.Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We stayed at Little America in SL the first night and then we went up to a condo in Park City for 3 nights. Then we flew out to North Carolina for the other reception. We ended up changing "accomodations" 7 times in 11 days or something like that...it was a little crazy, but fun :D

11.How long have you been married now?
We will be celebrating our 4th anniversary this month!

I tag: Micki, Tiffany, Becky, and Maria

Oh, and we never went to the Church Visitor Center, only the Community Of Christ Visitor center so we could see the Temple.... although I am not sure why we didn't stop there.... I think we were in a hurry to get to Nauvoo!
