I'll start with the bad news...
Yesterday I got really mad at the computer and instead of being patient, I gave in to my emotion and slammed the laptop with my hand. Britton was in the room and immediately tried to calm me down by telling me that I probably broke it and that I can't hit the computer, blah blah blah...
Well, the point is - I really did break it. I feel more than horrible about it. Windows won't even boot up. AARRRGGHHHHHH! How could I have done that????
During the aftermath, I vowed that I would sacrifice my mobility for computer access...selling a car so I could use the money to buy a new computer. Yeah, I know I was being a bit melodramatic. We haven't been able to laugh about it yet, but one day it will be funny.
Ok, so the good news...
Britton has a laptop that he uses for school, so I will be able to use that one until he heads back next semester. Also, I still have my old dinosaur - my Dad gave me this laptop Christmas of '99 I think, and he had it some time before then. It really is unbelievably old, but as you can see it gets the job done! I just hope it can hold out for 2 more years.
Well, we haven't taken our other laptop in to be looked at yet, but I have no hope or faith that it will be ok with less than $100 repair. I'm pretty sure we will just see if we can get the hard drive "saved" onto a disk. This old dinosaur is still running on Windows '98 and I would love to upgrade it (as well as the microsoft office), but I guess that all takes money.
I'm sure there are so many more blessings that I haven't been able to see because of the remorse blocking my vision. Britton has been so kind through the whole thing...understanding that I am punishing myself plenty for the both of us because it's really just me who looses out in the deal.

I can't make you any promises that he could fix it, but my sweetie could take a look at it. It may just be something minor that he could fix for free. Let me know if you'd like him to look at it. (It probably wouldn't be till next week since he'll be out of town)
Computers can be such a blessing and a curse!
Sorry Girl!!! I have no idea how on earth to fix a comp, or even where I would begin. You are always welcome here to use ours. I know it is a commute but you and Jack are welcome anytime. Good luck!
That is so sad! Thanks for sharing! I hope everything works out for you. Good thing you have another one to use for the mean time.
Hey Stephanie, I wanted to tell you about a playgroup I am organizing for Thursday May 15 at 11:30 at the park. Please pass it on to all of your blog connections! Thanks! From Jessica (although signed in as Michael)
Sad Steph! It sounds like Britton was still nice to you about it. Brian would be pretty mad at me!
Hey Stephanie! So sorry about your computer - what a pain. You are welcome to come over to our house anytime to use ours. Seriously. Are you really thinking about selling a car????
Don't worry...the selling the car idea only lasted like a minute - maybe two. But we actually took it in to be fixed, so I hope it all works out (cause the dinosaur didn't last long)!
I hope everything works out! That is great that Britton has been so nice through it all. Mike is often the same, when I do silly/stupid things... probably because I am like you and punish myself enough :)
Ha Ha Ha, that is funny! I mean not funny that the computer broke and all but the fact that you hit it! that is totally something I would do! I get so darn frusterated with computers! If you ever need to use ours you sure can :)
