Warning: mind-numbing ramblings ahead, proceed at own risk
I was thinking the other day about getting more organized. I was making a mental list of things to get at the store to help me organize. The truth is, all I think about are drawers. I love those plastic rubbermaid drawer sets. You can get them in all sizes. You can put all kinds of stuff in them. I have some under my bathroom sink to hold storage - toothpaste, soap, feminine, hygiene products, pregnancy related things that you don't want to throw out because you know you'll need them again anyway. You can conserve so much space by just throwing out the boxes things come in.
I have another set of drawers that stays on top of my bathroom counter. One drawer holds ointments, prescription creams, inhalers, anbesol, vicks and stuff like that. Another one holds all loose medicine (I threw away all the boxes, but I wrote the dosage amounts on each pill case first) like cold medicine, benadryl, gas x, allergy pills, cough drops [another good thing to have on hand because when you need it you never have it and don't feel like going out to get them]. The last drawer has bandaids, bandages and the like. I have really liked that one. It leaves the rest of my bathroom drawers for stuff like makeup, hair/nail accessories, and I even have a whole drawer for hair tools like blowdryer, curling iron, curlers which I love because I can put them away as soon as I am done with them and they don't clutter up the counter.
I want to get a little drawer set for batteries (which we always need and can't find, so we have to go buy them - only to find the ones we had before after you opened the new package...arrgghhh!), and a bigger drawer set for stuff that gets lost on the garage shelves like light bulbs, tools that don't have a tool box, vacuum parts like extra belts/bags/filters, random screws/nails, and just odds and ends.
Oh, guess what I just found out!? They have laundry detergent even more concentrated now, so you can get a bottle (around the size of or smaller than a sunny delight bottle) that washes like 64 loads! Now that conserves space.
I can't wait 'till Britton lets me get that huge food storage rack system. The one that holds all the cans and rotates them for you. (You can find it at http://www.shelfreliance.com/ I think.) I have a good food storage now, but I think it's a little dangerous with cans stacked 2 or 3 high, so I never let Jack in the Harry Potter closet.
I am getting back on my cleaning schedule and it feels great. [For those of you who don't know - I made a cleaning schedule/chart. It is quite detailed and this is where the OCD comes in to play big time. The end result I was looking for from this chart was a daily to do list so I can check each item off the list and see my progress as I go.] The chart works great, it's me who sometimes gets off track...like the entire holiday season! :( Oh well, moving forward!
Ok, that is just a little peek into the insane abilities my mind tries desperately to hide from the world. I guess the cat's out of the bag now, so no going back. I hope you have all had a little chuckle as you read this thinking, "She's kidding, right?!" :D

I can actually totally relate to a lot of what you said. I would LOVE to see your chart...I've been trying to make one (including a "chore chart" for Phil for the days I'm working) but I'm not very creative.
I've been trying to get more organized, too. Mostly in our storage rooms and Katie's closet. This weekend we went to Ikea and bought an awesome little storage thing that you can fill with little cubbies of all sizes. It fits perfect in her closet and just seeing it there with toys, shoes, etc in their own little cubby makes my heart happy. =) It was cheap, too.
You arn't crazy Steph! I am obsessed with those 3 drawer organizers in all sizes. I wish I could buy a lot more (but with our small budget...) I am trying to organize Porter's room to get ready for another one and I have found some really cheep good storage containers at Walmart for like $1 each. They are so nice especially since it seems like little girls have so many more things to be organized. (Bows, tights, jewlery, diaper covers, socks, shoes, etc...) But man is it fun buying and making all that girly stuff!

I think organization keeps one sane. I can't stand being in our apartment if it's a mess and I don't have time at the moment to clean it. It drives me crazy. However, I can't do the chore chart thing. I tried it, typed one up, printed it out, checked things off, but I found I just like doing all the big cleaning stuff in one big cleaning day. You'd think spending a little time everyday would be better, I thought so too, until I tried it. However, I do have my daily things - dishes, Adie's messes and such.
I love plastic bins too! I love how many sizes they come in, and the way it makes me think I can put everything I own in one.
Isn't it hard to find storage/food storage in our houses? I have boxes here and there. If we need it I hope I remember where I stuffed all those cans! Speaking of... do you have water storage? what do you have and where is it?
I support your "chart", I also love checking things off.
Ha Ha, you are so funny! It feels so good to be organized though! Have you ever been to IKEA? They can make a house out of one small room I swear to it. It is crazy! They have tons of organizational things there you would be in OCD heaven :)
Wow! First I thought it was amazing to hear of someone exactly like me... then I read all of these other comments and realized maybe I'm not that strange after all! I am the queen of OCD! I love rubbermaid drawers and boxes! I love the convenience and organization. Lucky for me it drives Mark nuts, so I really have to be careful not to overdo the whole thing. Although one thing that comes into play with the OCD that you didn't mention is this freakish need to keep everything sanitized. I love those Clorox wipes. Maybe I am strange after all.
Okay, so you're a genius. I am going to buy those drawer things for under my bathroom counter. I can't believe I didn't think of it! Thanks for the tag, btw, and I will write about it soon. Problaby this weekend when I have time for myself!
